Tarkarli Beaches


Small village near Malvan in Sindhudurga district of southern Maharashtra. Tarkarli means miles of white sand, clean clear water. Tarkarli means the typical konkani style houses peep in through coconut trees.

Tarkarli means real delicious Malvani food, Solkadhi, spicy curry-prawn or fish.Tarkarli means Dolphins, Seagulls, snorkeling and backwater experience. The first state transport service for Sindhudurga district started from this village. In past the natives from Karli use to travel by boat (Tar, in Marathi ) to reach here hence named Tarkarli. In ancient time Karli village had lot of warehouses, used to store mainly Mangalorian roofs (in Marathi ), dates (Khajur ), etc. It is tourist destination and an attractive beach Just 6 kms. Away from Malvan , this beach is known for its crystal clear blue waters where one can actually see the seabed up to a depth of 20 ft. and its silver sand. We can enjoy the adventures like snorkelling, scuba-diving, boating with dolphins here



 

 

ACHARA BEACH

This one is a paradise for swimmers and dolphin watchers. Dolphin season is between October and February. It is a few km ahead of Tondavali beach. It is quite popular during season time. There are some fishing activities around here but mostly it is a good space to chill with the sea waves. Located at 22 km from Malvan and 36 km from Kankavali is the Achara beach. Achara beach is amongst the charming Sindhudurga beaches. This beach is a paradise for swimmers, anglers and for sunbathing. Dolphins have been spotted recently in the Achara sea.


 

MALVAN BEACH

This is one of the most commercially active beaches in the Konkan. This beach is not a place for relaxation; however, it is close to the city centre and perhaps the most accessible beach in the area. Another promising forthcoming attraction here is a one of its kind marine park in Asia. The area of Malvan is a fortified island on the coastal reef. Coral patches have been recorded in the interstitial regions around the Sindhudurg fort. Most of these marine flora and fauna from the inter-tidal area is exposed during any low tide. So keep an eye out for a great opportunity for scuba diving.The best attraction on this beach remains to be the Sindhudurg fort.



 

TONDAVALI BEACH

Tondavali is a Village in Malvan Taluka in Sindhudurg District in Maharashtra State in India . Tondavali is 6.5 km distance from its Taluka Main Town Malvan

The Tondavali Beach is considered as one of the famous beaches near Malvan, located alongside the Konkan Coast. The beach is famous for dolphin watching, swimming and angling.






 

DANDI BEACH

Dandi beach located to the north of Tarkarli beach is from where visitors are taken to the diving site near the Sindhudurg fort for snorkeling and S.C.U.B.A diving.







 

Chivla beach

Chivla beach is a small cove nestled between two rocky stretches close to the Malvan town. The ROCK GARDEN is located close to the Chivla beach and over looks Chivla coast.






 

DEVBAUG SANGAM

Devbaug Sangam is the most picturesque spots near Tarkarli where the Karli backwaters meets the sea. The swaying palms on the other bank and the waves crashing with the river water paints a very beautiful picture.








 

DEVGAUG BEACH

Devbaug is a small, beautiful village which is situated at a point where river ‘Karli’ meets Arabic ocean. The beach is covered by green cypress(Suru), coconut and mango trees. Fishery is the main business of the localities. The natives believes that the place (Bag) is secured due to the blessings of God (Dev) and hence named Devbag (God’s garden).

The entire Tarkarli beach and backwater area has been declared as a trusted breeding zone for the crabs, turtles and fish. Devbagh Beach is adjacent to Tarkarli Beach and ends at Devbagh Sangam. It is easily accessed via the Malvan-Tarkarli road. Devbagh beach attacts tourists looking for peace and relaxation and sea- adventures.
