Each year, 8th March is celebrated as International Women’s Day, in order to celebrate the womanhood and the powerhouse that she is. We are a patriarchal society that is gradually starting to notice and acknowledge the contributions and sacrifices a woman makes for this society. The region of Konkan in Maharashtra which is known for its surf and turf, also is a homeland to a whole lot of independent women. We see them working at sea ports selling fishes, running homestays for tourists, cooking at tons of restaurants and resorts spread over the west coast. They are the real unsung Sheroes of the society. She works tirelessly, unaware of the day that celebrates her womanhood. She is the epitome of strength and courage. Let’s celebrate her this women’s day!
